Katrina al-Qaeda
My friend Adam just called Katrina a terrorist. I agree. Pure Al-Qaeda.
I'm comfortably chillin in a coffeeshop in Auburn, Alabama while a bunch of morons next to us joke about New Orleans being underwater. They're not too far off for parts of the city, but luckily the eye did not hit directly. Here's what we've found via people's blogs, local New Orleans news, etc. just on New Orleans:
• A whole brick building about 2 blocks from my house has supposedly collapsed with people in it. Although it doesnt seem much flooding occurred uptown, wind seems to have hit it pretty hard.
• Governor Blanco and a homeland security director have indicated the necessity to not return to our homes until further notice. This notice could come as late as a month from now according to them and the director of our electric services, Entergy, meaning we will wander this country until then.
• My friend Jose Posas' home is most likely underwater. The 9th Ward is under 5-10 feet of water after the industrial canal flooded via a 20-foot storm surge that also shut down 4 pumping stations to reverse any flooding.
• St. Bernard Parish has over 150 people stranded on their rooftops after flooding. Residents were told just prior to evac to bring axes to their attics for such a situation.
• Residents have been told not to drink any water, as it is contaminated.
I'll keep y'all posted. Thanks and pray for all the poor people that stayed.

We're glad that Michael, Brenda and Dixie made it to Auburn in the Honda, and that Megan, Joe, Kate and Quincy (and maybe some chickens) arrived safely at Nashville in Joe's truck -followed by a boat. Luckily, the storm moved Eastward of New Orleans at a reduced intensity, so things may not be as bad there as originally expected. Thank the Lord!
Everyone will have to wait patiently until the city is re-opened for business... and electricity, and water, and sanitation, and ...

Glad you got out when you did. I can't imagine what you'll do for the next few days or weeks waiting to see what is left of your 'house' and the studio. Send an email to me.

Thank God you're all okay! How's Auburn? Are you going to be there for the next month or are you thinking about taking another trek back here to Denver? You've probably got hundreds of other offers, but Leah and I have a couple guest rooms open for business if space and beds are needed. The offers' always open, my good man. You should know by now that plenty of prayers are being offered for you and all those affected by Katrina, nor will that cease for the forseeable future. Take care buddy!!
